Understanding RGB (Additive) vs CMYK (Subtractive)
Screen displays and printing presses produce colors using two opposite physics mechanisms:
- RGB (Additive Light): Used in monitors, televisions, and smartphones. Red, Green, and Blue light beams combine to create white light ($R+G+B = 255 \implies \text{White}$).
- CMYK (Subtractive Inks): Used in paper printing. Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow dyes absorb specific light wavelengths ($C+M+Y = \text{Muddy Brown}$). Pure black ink ($\text{Key } K$) is added to provide crisp text, contrast, and depth.
