🍺 Widmark Equation Pharmacokinetic BAC Model
Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Calculator
Estimate your blood alcohol percentage, legal driving thresholds, and time until complete metabolic sobriety using the clinical Widmark formula.
hrs
Sample Scenarios:
Male: 2 Pints in 2 Hours
Female: 3 Wine Glasses in 2.5 Hrs
Male: 5 Drinks in 4 Hours
Estimated Blood Alcohol Concentration
0.038% BAC
Time Until 0.00% Sober
2.5 Hours
Full metabolic clearance
Time to Under 0.05%
0.0 Hours
EU / AU driving limit
Grams of Pure Alcohol
42.0 g
14.0g per standard drink
Peak Unmetabolized BAC
0.068%
Before liver clearance
⚠️ Important Safety Notice: This calculator is an educational estimate using the theoretical Widmark model. Actual BAC is heavily influenced by stomach food content, hydration, liver enzyme genetics, medications, and metabolism. Never drink and drive.
The Widmark Pharmacokinetic Equation
Developed by Swedish chemist Erik Widmark, the formula models body water distribution and linear hepatic elimination:
BAC = [ (Alcohol in Grams) / (Body Weight in Grams × r) ] × 100 − (β × Time in Hours)
Where $r = 0.68$ for males, $r = 0.55$ for females (accounting for adipose tissue difference), and $\beta = 0.015\%\text{ per hour}$ is the standard hepatic elimination rate.
